Chennai Man Death : 16-06-2020 :
Second man from Chennai dies of COVID-19 in Puducherry. The 75-year-old man had come to Puducherry to attend the baby shower of his daughter, residing on the JIPMER campus, along with his wife, son and daughter-in-law. After he developed cardiac problems, he was taken to JIPMER where he tested positive for COVID-19. He was subsequently shifted to the JIPMER ICU, where he had been under treatment till his death. His last rites were performed at the electric crematorium on Tuesday morning.
Since he is a Chennai resident, his dead was recorded in Tamil Nadu Account.
His wife who is also COVID-19 positive is receiving treatment in the ICU in the same hospital.
- IGMCRI: 11 new positive Cases got admitted. At present, 78 Covid patients (77 Puducherry , 1 TN) are in IGMC& RI.
- JIPMER: 1 new positive Case got admitted. 4 positive cases recovered and discharged. Totally 29cases are in admission at present. (29 Puducherry, 3 TN).
- Outside Puducherry — 3 positives (1- Chennai, 1 — Delhi, 1 - Maharashtra)
- Mahe:. At present 4 cases are in admission.
- Karaikal - 2 new positive Cases got admitted. At present 3 active cases at GH.
- Yanam: No Covid positive patients at present.
- 99 Covid patients recovered and discharged in UT Puducherry till date.
- Cumulative no. of covid death — 4
- Contact tracing done for the positive patients.
- Active community surveillance ongoing
- ICMR Covid 19 Testing Centre for Puducherry is IGMCRI and JIPMER.
- PPEs and equipments being distributed to hospitals and more procurement and transportation being done.

- Hon’ble Health Minister chaired a meeting with Secretary Health, Director Health, Chief of Govt. Pharmacy and Nodal Officer, to review the covid situation in UT Puducherry.
- Hon’ble Health Minister, Secretary Health, Director Health and Nodal Officer for infectious diseases attended press briefing.
- An audio conference chaired Director Health with Core committee members of covid, to discuss about the trends on covid and hospital preparedness.
COVID Hospital (IGMC& RI):
- 25 ventilators are available in COVID hospital (16 invasive, 9 non invasive)
- No. of patients admitted for testing = 54
- No. of suspected cases found negative and discharged= 21
- No. of Positive cases – 78 (11 new positive cases, 1 TN)
- Total no. of patients in isolation ward = 125
- No. of PPE = 158 nos.
JIPMER
- Total no. of patients in isolation ward = 29 (3 Tamilnadu case, 26 patients from Puducherry)
